jQuery is a new kind of JavaScript Library
jQuery is a fast and concise JavaScript Library that simplifies HTML document traversing, event handling, animating, and Ajax interactions for rapid web development. jQuery is designed to change the way that you write JavaScript.
There is not only jQuery but MooTools and Dojo
Apart from jQuery there are some other interesting libraries:
MooTools is a compact, modular, Object-Oriented JavaScript framework designed for the intermediate to advanced JavaScript developer. It allows you to write powerful, flexible, and cross-browser code with its elegant, well documented, and coherent API.
Dojo saves you time, delivers powerful performance, and scales with your development process. It’s the toolkit experienced developers turn to for building superior desktop and mobile web experiences.
Use external libraries, use jQuery, MooTools, Dojo and others
BlackBird developed the LibraryAdmin module to make it more easy for LEPTON users to implement jQuery and other libraries and their plugins. This module offers also a plugin upload function and installs neccessary droplets automatically. From my point of view the easiest way to make jQuery and other libraries work on LEPTON sites. It is also that easy (even for unexperienced users or starting coders) to create new plugins for existing jQuery stuff. See how it is working and use it on a test page.
On this site all Plugins can be seen "at work" on a regular LEPTON installation using LibraryAdmin module and different libraries.
